The FC Spokane Youth Development Academy is our own in-house youth development program designed for players ages 5-10 who want to be coached by the clubs professional staff. Additionally, this program is designed to prepare players for our FC Spokane Premier and Select programs. Training will take place once weekly for an hour with FC Spokane professional staff coaches.
The FC Spokane Youth Development Academy is designed to compliment the players experience in recreational soccer and not to replace it. Part of the Academy will incorporate games played in-house in 3 Vs 3, or, 4 Vs 4 "street soccer" format where the coaching staff can adjust according to the week's lesson. The "street soccer" format allows the coaching staff to rearrange teams, adjust fields and goals to create an environment that best challenges players. The FC Spokane model is designed to allow as many Youth Development Academy players to advance to the FC Spokane Premier and Select programs as possible. We also hope to help develop recreational coaches by inviting them to attend sessions with their players.
The ethos of the Youth Development Academy will be to build the players technical skills in a fun, safe and rewarding environment. The program will be offered seasonally in the fall, winter and spring and will also offer camps in the summer.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY STAFF
Our professional Youth Development Academy staff under the supervision of our Youth Development Director Jay Vela aim to make it fun to learn soccer by providing an enjoyable, safe, competitive environment that fosters a learning through games approach to the sport. We aim to provide every player with the best soccer experience in the Spokane area and beyond. Jay Vela has been a feature within the Spokane Soccer Community as a player and coach for over 15 years. Jays playing experience includes 2 years with The Community Colleges of Spokane where he was second all time leading scorer with 44 goals in 50 games. Jay also played for 3 years in the PDL with the Spokane Spiders. Jay currently coaches our B-99 Black and B-98 White teams.
